AM2R developer Milton Guasti was invited to join the Ori and the Will of the Wisps team to work on the game’s level design.
In an interesting turn of events, AM2R developer Milton Guasti joined Moon Studios. The studio hired the talented individual to give his input on Ori’s level design.
Milton Guasti, known around the world for being responsible for Project AM2R, has seen his luck turn for the best. When initially working on AM2R, Nintendo has requested that he removes the game from servers. After some “private” online improvements, Nintendo sent an official DMCA takedown request. AM2R had to be canned. A few months later, Guasti gets hired by Moon Studios to work on one of the most anticipated platformers, Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
Thanks to a thread posted on NeoGAF by Thomas Mahler, founder of Moon Studios, we got a little glimpse of the hiring process Milton had to go through for this position.
“Milton is an incredible talent. We interviewed him and gave him a little test (we require every new hire to do a little test to see if we’re a match and to check how the person reacts to feedback, etc.) and he passed that little challenge with flying colors. I was grinning all throughout his pitched level design since it was clear from the first second that he ‘gets it’. Last year we hired Chris, one of the level designers for the recent Rayman games and a minute into the call he PM’ed me with “Hire him. Now.”, hehe.”
At the time being, development is going smoothly and the team hopes that with the addition of Guasti, the game will continue to hit us on an emotional level.
“Ori and the Will of the Wisps is already shaping up to become something really special and it’ll be fun to have Milton in the design calls and see his work pop up in the game now. Hope we can make you folks happy (and probably also sad) once more! :)”
I for one am a big fan of the series and cannot wait to see how the game will look when it comes out for Xbox One and Windows 10.
