Injustice 2 – 2018 Pro Series Announced

Time for some more Injustice 2 hype.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced the second season of their global esports program. The 2018 Injustice 2 Pro Series, which will be presented by Samsung and SIMPLE Mobile hope to bring together the best of the best.

Although Injustice 2’s competitive community is only a couple years in the making, it remains one of the fiercest and most hotly contested.

The Pro Series boasts a number of high profile sponsors, including Samsung, Gamestop and Gamelta. Teams will have the chance to compete in what is now confirmed to be a $150,000 USD prize

pool! Those who perform best during the 2018 series will have the chance to participate in the Grand Finals taking place this fall.

The participants

As WB is boasting, there are multiple ways to make your mark in the competition and compete in the grand finals. The Pro Series will feature “five live competitions throughout North America and Europe” as well as three online cups where other competitors can earn one of 12 spots in the Grand Finals (Burbank Press Release, GamesPress). Indeed, it was confirmed that four of these 12 spots would be reserved to the winners of various international programs. These programs include Canada’s Northern Arena Injustice 2 Elite Circuit, Latin America’s Liga Latina and an as of yet undefined European program.

The organization

The Pro Series will be managed by Chicago-based Intersport who will cooperate with Samsung and SIMPLE mobile as the main sponsors. Intersport, though only recently founded in 2016, has already been instrumental in projects which included big brands and teams. This experience includes the 2017 Injustice 2 Pro Series. It’s fair to say they’ve got some experience both with the community and the game itself. Samsung has also announced that they’ll be showcasing unique fighting game products during the competition.

Overall, this is a great way for corporate sponsors such as Samsung to gain notoriety within the esports scene. This is particularly true in relation to a successful esport game such as Injustice 2.
