Nintendo’s SNES Classic console was confirmed and a release date was finally provided. Following the launch of the NES Classic, many, including myself, are wondering whether ordering the alleged console will even be possible!
A few moments ago, Nintendo revealed via Twitter further details for the upcoming SNES Classic, including the list of featured games, as well as the release date. To start things off, here is the list of the confirmed titles that will come alongside the machine:
- Contra III: The Alien Wars
- Donkey Kong Country
- Final Fantasy III
- Kirby Super Star
- Kirby’s Dream Course
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Mega Man X
- Secret of Mana
- Star Fox
- Star Fox 2
- Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
- Super Castlevania IV
- Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts
- Super Mario Kart
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
- Super Mario World
- Super Metroid
- Super Punch-Out!!
- Yoshi’s Island
Personally, I am very excited for Star Fox, Castlevania and especially Super Mario RPG. Of course, there are a lot of really nice A-list games as well, such as Secret of Mana, Star Fox 2, FFIII and Donkey Kong Country for example. Anywho, there are 21 great games to play, all of which can be enjoyed for hours and hours.
As for the other important information shared, the release date, Nintendo announced that the SNES Classic will be available starting September 29th, 2017, for $79.99. The machine is already available for pre-order on certain sites, such as Amazon.
It will be very crucial for Nintendo to ensure that they can provide a lot more consoles than what they were able to back when they launched the NES Classic. The demand will certainly be high, and it will come to no surprise that many will try to order more than a single unit for resale purpose. I just hope that Nintendo will be able to provide enough consoles for the first wave of users that wish to put their hands on one, not for resale, but to actually enjoy the games it comes with.
We will follow up on the story as we get closer to the release date. Stay tuned for more!
