Pokémon Go: Capturing Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mew and Mewtwo

Do you remember the Pokémon GO trailer where a ton of people joined together in New York City Time Square to defeat and capture Mewtwo, the Legendary Pokémon from the Red & Blue game – the number 150.

Well, as it turns out, it is possible to capture all of the Pokémon in GO, excluding the Legendaries (Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres, Mewtwo, Mew). These are going to be the rarest and the maybe the among the strongest Pokémon – is there a way to capture it in the wild?

Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to catch them in the wild.

Being the leading topic of the moment, fans all over the Internet are sharing tons of stories regarding he Pokémon they catch (they attacks, CP, etc). However, on some occasions, you will read someone’s post, where they claim to have captured a Legendary – I mainly seen people claiming to have one of the birds. However, in these forums, as soon as someone requests a screenshot, the trainer becomes silent.

Did they really capture that Moltres? The answer is no. At the time being, it has been confirmed that the Legendaries are manual spawns. This means that it is impossible for them to appear in the wild at random. Since they are manual spawns, it also means that Niantic, the developer behind Pokémon GO, will be the one to decide when and where they will appear. If we base ourselves off of the trailer where Mewtwo shows itself in Time Square (New York), it is most likely that Niantic unlocks them during major events.

My guess is that they might appear during shows like Tokyo Game Show, Gamescom, E3, official Nintendo sanctioned events, and other major public gatherings (PAX, Paris Games Week, etc).

One thing is certain, we will definitely keep an eye out for those Legendaries and as soon as we hear word of their whereabouts, we will share that information with all of our fellow Pokémon Trainers.
