Turtle Beach Expands Esports Partnership with OpTic Gaming
Turtle Beach headsets have acquired a certain notoriety within the gaming culture. A reputation which is in large part due to the years of partnerships they have maintained with the Call of Duty and Counter Strike esports scene. Yet that isn’t enough for Turtle Beach, and they’re hoping to expand their already impressive presence.
A multi-year continuation of their partnership with gaming Organization OpTic Gaming (known within the community as “The Green Wall”) was just confirmed this morning. The agreement will arm OpTic’s World Champion Call of Duty and Gears of War teams with the best in gaming headsets and audio equipment.
The deal will also expand their existing agreement to OpTic’s DOTA 2 and PUBG teams. Turtle Beach CEO Juergen Stark commented that the deal was a result of the “expansion of esports leagues, competitions, games, and athlete demands”. Partnerships like these are necessary if organizations are to grow in a meaningful and consistent manner. While their agreement has been in force since 2016, Turtle Beach is now hoping to redefine what esport organizations consider the “highest” levels of product quality and audio supremacy.
Why that deal matters
It’s nice to see companies like Turtle Beach extend contracts to cover more organization teams. As previously discussed, PUBG is pushing to expand its esports presence significantly in the next few months. Considering those ambitions, TB and OpTic’s deal is a step in the right direction.
Within OpTic’s organization, this deal also represents a desire to expand their own roster and turn their players into influencers. Their partnerships hope to provide a platform for showcasing the highs and lows of the competitive esports scene. Even if you’re not an OpTic fan, the exposure is bound to provide legitimacy to the scene as a whole.
