Iceland Not in FIFA 17
FIFA 17 is the latest of the world-renown series played and watched by fans of all ages. Iceland followers, unfortunately, won’t be happy this time around.
As it turns out, the Iceland team won’t be featured in FIFA 17. When came the time to cut a deal, Electronic Art offered the football association an amount that was far below “their expectations”, said Iceland’s FA (KSI) to BBC. The amount of money offered was $15,000, which is way too low.
This announcement will surely come to a surprise to many, considering their strong appearance. This year at Euro 2016, they took down England. This was a pretty big deal and not having them in FIFA 17 is shocking.
“They are the ones buying these rights and they almost want it for free,” said the club’s president Geir Thorsteinsson to the BBC. “The performance at the Euros show that we are quite a good team and many would like to play with our team. It’s sad for the players – but the criticism should be towards EA Sports.“
“I really feel if we are giving away rights, or offering rights, it has to be proper negotiations and fair fees.” expressed Thorsteinsson. “I didn’t feel that this was done in a fair and open manner.“
From a critical standpoint, people are claiming that the game is good. However, we have yet to see how fan feedback will affect sales and social media. One thing is certain, I do not want to be the one handling EA’s twitter feed!
FIFA 17 is scheduled for release on September 27, 2016. The game will be available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. Details regarding PS4 Pro support have yet to be announced.
