DreamHack Coming To Montréal!

Dreamhack announced Wednesday that they are coming to Montreal!

The Swedish lan-party event announced two North American’s date for the first time in their short history. The first one will be in Austin, Texas. The second one will be held  in Montreal, Canada at La Place Bonaventure from August 12th to August 14th. This being announced a little more than one week before the Lan ETS, which was up to now, the biggest Lan-Party in North America.

“We are tremendously excited to launch this event in the Summer, working together with many of the experienced crew from Lan ETS, and bring the Dreamhack experience to some of the most passionate esports & gaming fans in the World in Canada,” – Dreamhack CEO Marcus Lindmark

More information about the event will be released in the next few week, including two major international tournaments and tournament format prize pools. We can already tell you that not many big Dota 2 team will attend the event since it is the Dota 2 International 2016 from August 8th to August 12th in Seattle. No other major Esports event are at the same time though.

This is a big step in the inclusion of Canada in the organization of major Esports events. Last year, although on a smaller scale, it was the ESWC of counter-strike that dropped in Montréal.  Now, with the Dreamhack, the city is taking it a step further. The Esports future of Montréal is looking bright if the Dreamhack gets a good attendance.

For those of you who don’t know what the Dreamhack is, it is a Lan-Party, major tournament, expo, live music, cosplay contest and much more all in one event. Like the Lan-ETS but on a bigger scale.
