Knuckles Appears in Latest Sonic Mania Gameplay Footage

Sega has revealed some new information for the upcoming Sonic Mania. This time, we see the brawling Knuckles fly through a familiar zone.

Indeed, this new footage shows a very familiar style of visuals with an equally as familiar scenery: Knuckles the Echidna soaring through Flying Battery Zone. Of course, this was possible way back on the Sega Genesis when Sonic The Hedgehog 3 was placed on top of the Sonic & Knuckles game cartridge. This new gameplay footage shows exactly the same scenery except this is from Sonic Mania, the upcoming tribute to the classic Sonic days.

Sonic Mania is being developed by Headcannon while Sega focuses on developing the new Sonic Forces title. This game is a tribute to the retro days of everyone’s favorite hedgehog way back on the Sega Genesis. Sonic The Hedgehog’s glory days are celebrated through this new take on his roots. Only Sonic, Tails and Knuckles have been confirmed as playable characters and there will be new and old content being reused for this game. As we can clearly see, Flying Battery Zone is making a return with a few noticeable changes.

Sonic Mania is scheduled to release later this year on all major platforms including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Stay tuned for more information on Sonic Mania
