Dark Souls: Remastered – Network test details confirmed

Want to take part in the multiplayer preview? Find out how here.

If you’re itching to get a jump on PvP and test out the remaster before release, Bandai Namco has got you covered.

The Premise

As previously reported Dark Souls: Remastered will be delayed on the Nintendo Switch, but player’s snagging the game on PS4, Xbox One or PC can still look forward to a May 25th release date. Leading up to that momentous day, Bandai Namco has now confirmed that network tests for the game will be running May 11 and 12th 2018. Keep in mind that these tests are only taking place on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One system. Furthermore, Xbox owners will require a Gold subscription to partake.

If you’re unfamiliar with Network Tests, or how they could apply to Dark Souls, here is the short version. The game’s multiplayer functionality largely revolves around players either invading or being summoned into another players world. These interactions are thus either based on a mutual desire to see the other suffer, or a genuine wish to provide assistance for a tough boss fight. The Network Test will only take place in a single area of the game (confirmed to be the Undead Parish), so as not to ruin the game for players who have yet to experience it. Players will then be asked to invade and/or place co-operation signs for two days. All the ensuing PvP madness will be in the name of science, and stable connections at launch.

The Details

So lets you’re a Dark Souls fan, and that you’ll be free during those two days. WHEN, and HOW will you be able to help the team figure out how many invasions they can fit into the Undead Parish? It’s quite simple.

When: On May 11th and 12th, from 6:00 pm PDT (9:00 pm EST, for those on the east coast).

How: Start by not panicking. Don’t chug your Estus or spam R1. Download the DARK SOULS: REMASTERED Network Test Client between May 1st and May 8th (11:59 PDT) on your console.
