Otakuthon Montreal Reaches Attendance Goal

Last year, 17,660 people attended Otakuthon in Montreal. This time around, for the 10th anniversary, over 20K fans were at the event.

In a press release addressed by the Otakuthon organization, we have learned that estimated 20,210 people were present at the convention over this past Otakuthon weekend. These number show an increase of 14.4% compared to last year’s massive 17,660 attendees. A new record has now been set!

“Such achievements would not have been so without you, the press, who have given Otakuthon an unprecedented visibility and coverage this year,” said the organization. “That being said, we thank you for your interest in our convention as your presence means very much to us. We would also like to recognize the dedication of our volunteers whose considerable effort made the convention a unique experience. Ultimately, we pay homage to the thousands of attendees from all walks of life who braved the August heat to come shine at the Palais des congrès in the most creative and distinctive way!”

When it comes to Canada, Otakuthon is the second largest anime convention; it is the first one in the province of Quebec. We are already looking forward to next year’s show!
