Dragon Ball Super To Air With English Subtitles
After going through 60+ episodes, TOEI announced that finally, Dragon Ball Super will be getting English subtitles on three anime streaming services.
TOEI Animation, the Japanese animation studio known to be behind many major shows, announced the official English subtitle support for Dragon Ball Super on three major streaming services. Starting today, Crunchyroll, Daisuki and AnimeLab will feature Dragon Ball Super with English subtitles.
What does this mean for the industry?
For some time now, the only way to watch Dragon Ball Super with subs was to head over certain streaming site (mostly free), and view them there. While this is technically illegal, the new service announced today implies that on all three streaming platforms, fans can enjoy the latest Dragon Ball series both legally and without having to wait for a sub to be available.
This simulcast is set to start this week with the 63rd Episode of Dragon Ball Super. When the show airs in Japan, the English sub version should be available within the next hour. Below is a list of the markets supporting the simulcast, as well as the streaming services:
- Australia and New Zealand – Crunchyroll, Daisuki and AnimeLab (free and paid members). Local streaming time Sunday, 12:00pm EST.
- United States and Canada – Crunchyroll and Daisuki (free and paid members). Local streaming time Saturday 9:00pm EDT.
- Latin America – Crunchyroll (paid members only). Local streaming time Saturday 8:00pm CDT.
- South Africa – Crunchyroll (paid members only). Local streaming time Sunday 6:00pm SAST.
For the past episodes, it was announced that starting October 30, 2016, 10 episodes per week, starting from the series’ first episode, will release. This will occur up until the entire series becomes fully available with English subtitles.
This is extremely great news for Dragon Ball fans subscribed to any of the three platforms. Unfortunately, details fail to mention any support for new streaming platforms and markets. Stay tuned as we keep you updated!
