Gamescom is inbound and so far, it has been quite a couple of days. New trailers and exclusive gameplay are on the menu, but the hype turned elsewhere!
If you are part of the lucky crowd attending this year’s convention, you might have noticed the bright orange Half-Life 3 add. Is Valve planning on unveiling the long-awaited sequel? As it turns out, most of you have been fooled by this clever prank.
Despite the wording, the orange poster is NOT an ad for Half-Life 3, but merely a publicity stunt achieved by two German gaming websites: Giga Games and Spieletipps. When translated from its original language to English, the poster reads: “Half-Life: 3 editors who played it back then.”
In short, this suggests that if you head over Hall 10.1, C021 / D020, you can meet with three editors that have worked on the famed Half-Life game back in the late 90’s.
Fans all over the world have reacted to the add, hoping that Valve was actually planning on unveiling the new sequel. However, just like any click bait article out there, the add was both hated and loved at the same time – it is being shared all over social media.
Without a doubt, Giga Games and Spieletipps had an amazing and original idea!
Gamescom is now ongoing and will last until August 21, 2016. There have been quite a few announcements so far, so make sure you keep an eye out for any updates!
