OGN Overwatch APEX Season 2 is just about to begin and Cloud9 is getting ready for the event.
Notorious eSports team Cloud9, also known as C9, have announced roster changes just in time for the OGN Overwatch APEX Season 2. The teams made their way to South Korea, just a few days before the festivities. With Kyle ‘KyKy’ Souder stepping down from Cloud9 to join Team EnVyUs as their temporary coach, a new player had to replace him.
A few months ago, in October, NRG eSports team released Daniel ‘Gods’ Graeser. Gods is known as a flex/DPS player. As a replacement for KyKy, Cloud9 announced that Gods will be joining the roster in time for the Overwatch APEX Season 2 event. Gods released an official statement regarding his new entry to the C9 team.
“I’m very excited to be joining Cloud9. Becoming part of such an amazing organization is definitely a huge opportunity for my career, and I can’t wait to see all that we can accomplish together.” – Daniel ‘Gods’ Graeser
Last minute changes to a team, like this one, are risky. Other teams have already pulled it off and Cloud9, being well led, definitely has the pedigree and synergy to pull it off. As a fan of the team, I am confident in their potential and Gods’ skills, but I still believe that a little more time together would have been appropriate.
As for KyKy joining EnVyUs, the position is only temporary.
“He’s here to help us as a tryout for a coaching position. We’re optimistic about his position.” – Dennis ‘INTERNETHULK’ Hawelka
EnVyUs is set to take on MVP Infinity on January 17, 2017, at 5am ET. Cloud9 will take the stage later, on January 20, at 5am ET. Stay tuned for more information about both teams and a follow up on the event.
