Pokemon TCG: Surrender to Mega Mewtwo Y

Mega Mewtwo has been quite a force to be reckoned with ever since the meta rotation hit on Standard format. Take a look at how fast and strong he can truly be.

Dominating the meta game right now, the mysterious and legendary Mewtwo has access to two different versions of himself: X and Y. While X proves to be slower, Mega Mewtwo Y’s light build for damaging is exactly what gives the spotlight for this deck profile. As a Mega card, he has relatively highg HP and his attack Psychic Infinity is practically free and takes no time to be become a OHKO on most opponents.

More Energy, More Death

Mega Mewtwo Y is a very straightforward Pokemon. He is pretty much like the Spirit Bomb equivalent for the Pokemon TCG. His attack Psychic infinity allows to attack for 10 damage plus 30 times the amount of Energy attached to both Mega Mewtwo Y and his opponent. With the cost of two Colorless Energy, his minimum damage output is 70 if the opponent’s Active Pokemon has zero Energy. However, this is rarely going to be the case. In a meta where Energy attaching is fast, most deck utilize at least two energy on their main attacking Pokemon.

Your Pokemon can also continue to empower himself if your opponent doesn’t need much to fight. A double Colorless Energy is enough for Mewtwo to attack, but a second makes his damage scale very fast. With cards like Mega Turbo and Special Charge, you will not worry about attaching extra Psychic Energy on Mewtwo or losing your Double Colorless Energy cards.

Memories Only Empower Him

Shrine of Memories also plays an important part for Mega Mewtwo Y. This Stadium allows evolved Pokemon to use attacks from their precedent forms. This means that Mega Mewtwo Y can use Mewtwo’s attacks: Shatter Shot and Damage Change. The second is critical since it can help Mega Mewtwo Y cleanse itself from all its damage and continue its onslaught.

Sidekicks to Consider

This guy is very annoying on most decks. His Ability, Garbotoxcin, denies all Abilities. This heavily counters decks that rely on them such as Dragon and Water decks. Of course, it denies the use of Shaymin and Hoopa if you are able to get this baby out before your opponent has a chance to use them.

In the current meta, he is by far the best choice.

alakazam ex mega alakazam

Alakazam and Mega Alakazam both can help the ultimate Psychic Pokemon. When Alakazam mega evoles, his ability Kinesis allows you to put 2 damage counters on the opponent’s Active Pokemon and 3 on one of his/her Benched Pokemon. This can help setup for OHKO for Mega Mewtwo Y.
