On this final episode of our Wii U Impressions for the big update on Wii U. It is time to consider the Wii Menu.
When choosing the Wii Menu icon, it is obligatory to have a Wii Remote paired with the Wii U console. When the Wii Menu opens, you can see it is exactly like the Wii Menu everyone knows. As channels, there are the Disc Channel, Wii Shop Channel, Wii U Menu, Mii Channel, Wii System Transfer and Wii Menu Manuel. You cannot change the settings of the console from the Wii Menu.
Of course, the Disc Channel used to show both a Wii disc and a GameCube disc. Unfortunately, Wii games are not upscaled in terms of graphics. Nonetheless, this is true backwards compatibility. Simply, it is a Wii inside a Wii U.
The Wii System Transfer can be used through its channel on the Wii Menu. This is used to bring all your Miis, software and saved data from your Wii console to your Wii U console. You need an SD card (at least 512MB of free space) and an internet connection. Then, from the Wii console, you need to have the Wii U Transfer Tool Channel from the Wii Shop Channel.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have arrived at the end of this series of episodes. Here is a link to every of the other episodes:
