Pokemon GO is expending their roster of creatures by 80 during this week said Niantic earlier today.
Pokemon GO already consists of a great number of Pokemon to be available within the game, but today, Niantic confirmed that an additional 80 will be joining the Pokedex. Pokemon from the Gold and Silver Johto region, such as Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile , the three starters, will be making their way.
“Today is a momentous occasion for our team here at Niantic which has been hard at work to deliver these additional Pokemon and build upon the encounter and capture mechanics for our passionate global community of Trainers playing Pokemon Go.” – Niantic CEO John Hanke
“Pokemon Go is a live experience which we’ll be continuing to support and evolve in new and interesting ways for years to come with new gameplay features, in-game and live events, more Pokemon to discover and much more.”
“The new Berries included the Nanab Berry (slows a Pokemon’s movement) and the Pinap Berry (doubles the amount of Candy received if the next catch attempt is successful). As for the new customization items, the update adds more hats, shirts, pants, and more. Additionally, new items can be purchases for real money.” – Niantic
In the picture above, we see the three aforementioned starters, as well as Espeon and Umbreon, two of Eevee’s evolutions, as well as Marill, Bellossom and Hoppip. The Johto Pokedex features a total of 105 additional creatures, bringing the Pokedex count to a total of 256. I believe that the legendary from this series (Entei, Suicune, Raikou, Lugia, Ho-Oh and Celibi) are not part of the 80 that are releasing. However, we have yet to determine the list of exactly which ones will be joining the game.
The Pokemon GO update is scheduled for release later this week. Stay tuned for more information!
