Next year, in celebration of the Year of the Mammoth, Blizzard will release a series of three sets of 130 cards, for a total of 390 cards in total.
The Year of the Mammoth, is already looking good for Hearthstone fans. Next year, the game will add to its roster 390 cards. Of course, these won’t come out at the same time; the company announced that during the 12 months of the Year of the Mammoth, they will release three sets comprised of 130 cards each.
This will be the first time that Hearthstone releases so many cards in such a short period of time. As it turns out, there are no smaller Adventure-style releases. However, some of the elements from this format will appear as part as the expansion updates, said Blizzard Entertainment.
When the rotation takes place, older sets such as Blackrock Mountain, The Grand Tournament and League of Explorers will switch out from standard and become exclusive to Wild. This entails that some of the best and strongest cards from standard will be rotated out. Cards like Emperor Thaurissan, Flame Walker, Aviana, Murloc Knight, and more powerful ones will be rotated out.
“We’ve got a lot of great things on the horizon for Hearthstone in 2017, including new content launches, innovative ways to get together and play with friends, improvements to keep Hearthstone fresh and exciting, and more!”
“2017 marks the end of the Year of the Kraken and the beginning of a new Hearthstone Year: The Year of the Mammoth. Each new Hearthstone Year brings a fresh start in the form of a new Standard format. Once the Year of the Mammoth officially begins with the first major expansion of 2017, Blackrock Mountain, The Grand Tournament, and League of Explorers cards will become exclusive to Wild.” – Blizzard via their official blog post.
