NieR: Automata Director Addresses YoRHa 2B’s Derrière Controversy

NieR: Automata director Taro Yoko tackles the recent controversy created around protagonist YoRHa 2B’s behind.

Recently, a brand-new demo was released and showcased NieR’s gameplay mechanics, physics and other. Demos are supposed to represent closely what the end product will look like. However, certain crowds weren’t please with the showcase simply since the protagonist, YoRHa 2B, shows her derrière without any hint of hesitation. Games like those are always subject to controversy and this one is no exception. What sets this story apart from other is defined by how director Taro Yoko addressed the said controversy. The picture below, borrowed from, is a good example of the concept art that are in circulation.

“Because of the 2B’s butt uproar, a lot of rude pictures have been uploaded. Since it’s trouble to gather them all, I would like them to be sent every week in zip files.”

A few hours later, the following tweet was posted.

“All you need to do is write ‘send me ZIP pictures of 2B’, your message is seen all around, and then you really receive files. Isn’t the Internet amazing.”

Toro Yoko, in the above thread, refers to user Kibu”, which provided several 2B fan art. The controversy, in this case, is completely ignored by the director, who appears to encourage the community to draw their own version of the protagonist. Yoko-san goes on to thank “Kibu” personally. He also refers to user kuchiekoo”, who provided an actual zip file. The art shared by both are stunning – most of which really focus on her derrière and her other feminine features.

Thanks to Yoko-san, the fans and the artists, 2B has come close to being one of the contenders for sexiest video game character.

NieR: Automata is scheduled for release in Japan on February 23rd, 2017. A North America release date is set for March 7th, 2017. The game will be available for PS4 at first; a PC version was confirmed as well, but won’t be available before 2018. NieR: Automata was nominated as one of the most anticipated games of 2017 by many outlets and fans.

Stay tuned for further updates!

Bonus points for being so lazy that you couldn’t even rename the said picture that you ripped from our site, props! I would have been cool with this if you had at least cited that the picture in question was “borrowed” from us.
