E3 2018: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
It was rumored that a new game from FromSoftware would be revealed this E3. Many of them mentioned a possible sequel to Bloodborne, but all of them were wrong. Today, on the Microsoft stage, a brand new game makes its World Premiere and it’s called Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. From the makers of the Dark Souls franchise, FromSoftware is bringing a brand new action RPG set in feudal Japan where you take the role of a samurai that has fallen in battle. You come back to the land of the living cursed and ready to purge the enemy that still walks. It is time to save your master before it is too late. The game takes advantage of all the studio’s best strengths: hardcore combat, giant monsters and a dark grim reality one must face alone.
It is very interesting to see them tackle this theme with this new game. Similar to Nioh, this is a Western-style RPG that is set in Japan and that criss-cross looks entertaining in itself. For now all we have it the reveal trailer showing some pretty sweet gameplay. We will be able to fight using all the tools available to the samurai as well as other Japanese-themed weaponry. Also, upon revival, the samurai has lost the flesh from one of his arms, instead he will be able to use special abilities through it such as a grappling hook or pulling out an extra weapon.
