E3 2018: Devil May Cry 5
During Microsoft’s press conference, a brand-new sequel to a franchise we greatly enjoy was revealed, Devil May Cry 5.
Following the release of Devil May Cry 4 back in 2008, fans have been requesting a true sequel to the series. Today, on the Microsoft press conference stage, game director Hideaki Itsuno declared that not only is Devil May Cry back, but he is also back and apparently in charge of the direct sequel, Devil May Cry 5.
Striking with a new arm!
In the trailer showcased during the briefing, we meet our protagonist Nero, who apparently loses his arm to a mysterious being. He is followed by Nico, his sidekick and also the person who is designing Nero’s metal arm.
As part of the gameplay, you have access to a few weapons, just like the classic Devil May Cry games. However, Nero also uses his arm for various things such as grappling on and to enemies, swinging them around, and more. From what we have seen, the arm will have a massive role in this iteration of the series.
A Direct Sequel
Devil May Cry 5 is a direct sequel to Devil May Cry 4, that much has been confirmed. We also know that the game takes place in Red Grave City, where Nero must look for answers.
In the final cut of the video, we see Dante riding on a bike. In the artwork logo, we can also see his backside on the left, carrying what appears to be non-other than the legendary blade Rebellion. On the official page of the game, Microsoft states that there will be three unique playable characters.
Humanity’s last hope rests in the hand of three lone demon hunters, each offering a radically different play style as they take on the city overrun with demons.
Devil May Cry 5 is scheduled for a spring 2019 release. The game will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Stay tuned as we share further information.
