Looks like Konami is not letting Metal Gear die with the leave of its creator and director. At Gamescom, they reveal a new game: Metal Gear Survive.
Metal Gear Survive is co-op stealth game which brings together four players who have to work together to infiltrate and survive. This title is set to arrive on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Scavenge, fight and develop the best strategy to survive in this harsh wilderness
For those have played through the Metal Gear franchise, Konami’s new game will be set right after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. It takes the survivors of the Militaires Sans Limites and places them in an alternate universe where they must fight crystal zombies to survive.
“Metal Gear Survive will offer a fresh take on the series’ famed stealth elements,” said Konami European president, Tomotada Tashiro in a press release, “but within a unique co-op setting that is designed for a truly engrossing multiplayer experience.”
Here is the reveal trailer shown at Gamescom:
Now, Metal Gear Survive will be the very first game made in the Metal Gear franchise after the departure of Hideo Kojima. We don’t know if Big Boss will be making an appearance besides being shown leaving at the beginning of the trailer. This lack of information is applicable to the other recognisable characters in the Metal Gear universe.
According to Konami, this is “a new addition to the Metal Gear Solid V experience”. There is even a hint to the possible inclusion of a Metal Gear towards the end of the trailer. Perhaps players will have to fight against it as a boss fight. The game will be using the same FOX engine that was introduced in Ground Zeroes.
Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Survive is set to release in 2017 on all PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
